Savage XR: Physics Fun - July 30th 2010
Today at the Weekly Clan-Friendship-Time with NITRO clan, there was a lot of fun playing around on a map where objects were given 'physic' properties. You can move boxes, pick them up, throw them, and even build stuff. In addition there are pillars, rocks, boulders that you can push around too, and you can even get injured from these objects! There are also different sized-boxes, ladders, and planks of wood around too.
Here are screenshots from the entire event. =) Crashday said he might consider making an XR map that would make it more easy to fool around with these XR physics. There are lots of awesome potential for fun stuff.
This was the conversation in the chat a few minutes after I joined.

Here is the first time Crashday did a funny 'explosion' thing with the boxes.

This was me getting stuck in the ground. (There are a few places on the map you can get glitched-stuck. Only solution is to type /kill >.<; ) During this part a bunch of us gathered boxes from around the map to where the explosion area was.

This was the epic moment of the first explosion using demo packs, all four of us on the server crammed into the tiny hole between all the boxes, counted down, set the demo charges, then relocated to see the awesome explosion. =D

Here are some conversation that happened afterwards. Crashday also talked about the new nickname animation program he had made (You can see it in this topic). You can also see a lot of the Savage XR physics in this part. You'll see how it is still a bit glitchy to pick up objects, and to move them around, but at the same time you get to see how awesome it is too. At this point, we are building up a pile of boxes again to get ready for another demolition pack explosion. At the end of the demo my internet disconnects me from the server. I rejoin though in the second demo where we prepare ourselves to lay demolition packs + Crashday and others finish off the box pile, but then I disconnect again from the server. (Darn it! xD) The third demo contains the almighty explosion viewed from a spectator perspective (after I re-joined the server). This is probably the most epic part of all. Be sure to watch.

Here is the list of players who were on the server. ^.^
Very, very epic and fun time. =D Thanks for the awesome time guys, was definitely great to remember that Savage XR took the time to try out some physics engines for the game. I hope to see some more stuff about that soon maybe. ^.^
TNaismith's Notes:
Here are some quick stuff I wrote down onto a notepad document. The first part is a list of funny ideas that I thought would be cool to try using the Savage XR physics one day.
Here are some general notes I made about the Savage XR physics, most of them are glitches/bugs I encountered that day:

PS. Here is a small demo file of one of the Nitro members throwing a box at the beast lair right after the last box explosion. Though it'd be funny to upload. xD

TNaismith's Notes:
Here are some quick stuff I wrote down onto a notepad document. The first part is a list of funny ideas that I thought would be cool to try using the Savage XR physics one day.
- Who can build a box tower the fastest?
- Take the building materials from the monkits!
- Racing? Jumps? Obstacle course?
- Catch the box
- Demolition pack boxes exploding
- Sacrifice box exploding
Here are some general notes I made about the Savage XR physics, most of them are glitches/bugs I encountered that day:
- Places get stuck
- Boxes can't grab unless right on top + same level (Can't stare at box and grab it) + area to grab box isn't too clear
- Planks of wood hard to grab
- Rolling stones has some weird mechanics (roll in strange ways) (Not completely round, flat edges)
- Can't take boxes with boxes on top (Have to go over the top or run straight into the pile a few times)

Hey, looks really great! I like this map and the physics. Another great thing you can do on this mat is to make a pyramid on top of a building, and then shoot them with a catapult!

Thx TN for putting this up! I'll post my demos soon too. Maybe today ^^. But I don't know when I'll start with my xr map. At the moment there is a lot of stress in my life. Driving license course, first aid course, on monday work... From monday to thursday there is 100% stress
Getting up at 6:15 am, driving with bike to work, being at work at 7:00 am, staying at work until 5:00 pm, biking home, being at home at 5:15 pm, eating and resting at home, biking to licence course at 6:15 pm, being at license course at 6:30 pm. Course lasts 2 hours and then again biking home which again takes 15 minutes. So my leisure time starts at 8:45 pm. Meh

xD Not problem mate. RL is always the more important game to play.
