"When" is hard to answer. The core is pretty much done, but there are still a lot of things which need some work. I can give you no date, but expect a beta release this year.

Does the grass look a bit weirder than in XR ?

The grass which you can see on the screenshots is an early test. THere will be a lot of changes to it

Will there be a linux-version? How will the hardware-requirements be (Compared to SXR)? Who'll host the server when the game won't be able to join the XR-Servers?

There is a Windows, Linux and Mac version. Actually, the game is developed on a Linux machine

I can't say much about the performance/requirements, but they'll be similar to XRs.

And there will be official servers which are tracking stats and you can host your own server too I think.
