3.) Building essential stuff!

Start date: Notch said, that Minecraft 1.0 will be released on November 11th

TODO:
Underground spawn area with explanation part and rules
Trading house with bank, chest, and trading plugin(iron ingots, gold ingots)
Free ressources for trusted members
Level system (guests, builders, trusted members, veteran, moderator, administrator) => Think of requirement to reach status
Town built on a plateau style
Trial town (trial members recommended to build at trial town) => seperated from main town
Our new world should contain temples like in zelda!
=> Hidden treasures like diamond tools/armor, golden apple...
=> Riddles like I built in old "house of riddles" on current map

DONE:
Blacksmith (Free Iron Items)
Bakery (Free Cake or Bread)
Healing Fountains
Teleportation Devices
Safepoints (players will be able to those as checkpoints)
Train system (which uses a color code system) centered in spawn town
Trails and roads in 4 directions (north, south, east, west) => Extended for a long time in each direction

4.) Advertising our server!
Therefore we need a new name for our server. "Quota's Minecraft Server" is not the best name for advertising. It should be something fancy ^^ Spam your ideas in the comment section below!

What about the server name: "World of Minecraft"?
And using the horizontally mirrored WoW icon for our logo.
What do you think about this idea?

I think such things might possibly insult copyrights of some sort - the name is fine, as one can't copyright words (just entire titles), but the icon might be a problem. You could try blockifying the TH icon though, or something.

EDIT: we could also use one of the past event live recordings as an advertisement.

but using the event recording sounds nice aswell. perhaps we can combine both video materials

Sounds like a plan. Maybe show our world in the first few minutes, then some extracts of our events, etc.
We should also emphasize we are ready to help when people come online, that we're friendly to each other, help each other out with resources and building, etc. Whatever makes TH Minecraft TH Minecraft. Whenever I'm around on mc, I shall help people with explanations and stuff like that as I always did so far...if we all do that, it's a good start for a good community like this.

I have no idea what minecraft is all about. But I like the second banner and the top one. Nice work!

Minecraft is like lego for nerds - it's a gigantic world made of blocks. You harvest those blcks with different tools while keeping yourself alive, then build something artificial on the natural landscape created by minecraft - it's a lot of fun, you should give it a shot!

About the banners crash - I'm sure they look awesome, but I wonder if their design shouldn't be changed - then again, I'm suggesting this not knowing anything about graphic design so it'd be up to others

I think the advertisement video should be created by someone in possession of video editing software better than windows movie maker to make it look more professional than a home video - I could do a wmm one, but I have no other software, so volunteers come forth

I do have Sony Vegas 8.0, and I've used it for one or two videos in the past, but nothing recently. I know the basics enough to use it to create something of 'just below-average' quality, but I'm afraid that's about all I can offer. xD

It is possible though for me o create one, and to record footage for it too, knowing my PC, the footage I record (if I don't use already recorded footage, for the sake of assuming-the-worst) would be very frame-rate laggy and jumpy, but I could pull off enough 'decent' recorded shots from the server to put something worthwhile together. xD

I would recommend and love to see some other volunteers though step up for this task. xD

Yes, ill undertake the advertisement video. But I would be happy if you could send me some video footage or some awesome screenshots.

Well, the problem about video footage is, that it's extremely huge...I can record limitlessly long clips, but since it's uncompressed video clips they take up about 20mb per second or something.

ill post a topic about video compression soon, im just very busy this weekend. But I'll do what i can!

By the way, whenever I log on to the server it says I don't have the rights to do anything - I can't even move. Might want to fix that. What's a 1.7.3 server good for if ya can't move?

Oh sry hermit I'll fix that! Btw we have a 1.8.1 server. When you logon to our server the first time you have to type /register yourwishedpassword and then just type /login yourpassword.

i think there is nothing especial in using this language)
it's a world-recognized language that gives a lot of possibilities in programming...I've used it before just for educational goals) It's just an instrument to make other great stuff, different applications! During all the time i've been studing in the university, i used it only for creation something more then programm, it's due to the fact that one of the directions of education on my specialty is building systems of data processing) That sounds great, isnt it?!) Really enjoy what i do there)
From the beginning of the 2011 and till now we develop and ugrade selfmade robot system)
This is the first project of so big ranges made by students) Students 1,2,and 3 years older us also made robots, but thier robot were based on toys i mean RC cars. And it has only single board computer with difference sub devices. The highest achievement last years-students was usage of 1 web-camera for detecting a black line on the white floor) We've set ourself a bit ambitious goals! But i think that's good for us)
The mechenical platform has ranges 1m x 2m approximately, it has system of cameras that will provide stereo vision, laser distance measurer , compact full-fledged computer with a lot of perefral devices, micro-processor, -contollers and other stuf like this)
Of coz we have some sort of development team of which i am. At all something about 10-12 ppl)
Hope that is more interresting about me then just i'm using C++. It's all about i use it for)

I'm also used to program alot of c++. I especially focus on programming games. But lately I don't have time programming games I work on a special school project with my friend. There I just need java which is also a very awesome programming language.

Awesome guys! We already fulfilled 2 goals The next step is to create some banners and some advertising video footage. I'll create the video if you help me getting some footage of landscapes, our current main town and so on.
