The top ten listed in your link, is the places you should avoid the most, not look for Now, I'm glad my favourites aren't listed on your site, but you can try my top 10 and compare!

Well, tastes are tastes..you don't like but there's alot of other people who disagree with you..but hey, if you have the chance, try to visit or get some more info and maybe your opinion may be changed

Well, I've been to 6 out of 10 :p
Sure enough, tastes are tastes.Pity is that most people never look further than the taste of the public/all other people

PS: The purpose of my post was (and as the title the post says) to Promote my Country/City.I hope you understand that.Maybe we should create an topic of places we should visit.

It's true that when people go 'tourist-visiting' other countries/places, most go to the main-stream locations that are advertised on television, internet ads, newspapers... etc. The people that really want to experience another country and it's culture, roots, history, food, lifestyle, views, etc actually pay more attention to traveling at a 'local culture' level. For example, instead of going to some fancy five-star hotel and eating from the thousands of obvious tourist locations or buying typical tourist souveniers -- try staying at a more local place in the country/area, ask the local grocer what kind of places are nice to see in the city or countryside, talk to the locals about nice places to visit or real great food to try. You'll get amazing recommendations and tips to places/things about the country that you would never have found out from just talking to the default 'tour-guides' who get paid high money by tourist companies just to tell you standard things like "This is Tower of London. Enjoy. This is Eiffel Tower. Enjoy.", etc, etc. Some of the locals might even be kind enough to take you on tours themselves to great secret or beautiful views that only the locals know about.

As always though, be careful of your own safety and your group -- there is a danger in traveling or being led around by someone not part of an official tourism business, you might be risking your money and lives if you choose someone that takes you down a dark alley to rob you of money and etc. So be careful and cautious! But if you have the courage and enough experience, definitely try traveling with a more 'local' mindset instead and you might be surprised at how wonderful your abroad experience can be. =)


On the same note, this topic is about promoting your own country/city, not discussing if it is actually a good/bad place to travel/visit. =)

Buuuuut... just to say.... 1:19 in the video. Very nice example of the atmosphere and architecture history of Porto -- this kind of building style I've seen a lot in steam-punk kind of fantasy settings/stories/movies/art/concept drawings. In fact, I think lots of those Pokemon shows/movies and also anime medieval-fantasy shows take inspiration from the kind of settings Porto offers.
